  4. Power source

The transmitter sends a control signal to the receiver via radio waves, then drives the motor and triggers a specific action. A motor in a car can make the wheels turn, while an aircraft can adjust the flaps. The power source is generally a rechargeable battery, but sometimes just an ordinary battery.

A Radio-Controlled Motor plays a leading role in many Remote-Controlled Toys, while another power source provides the movement. Here are some examples.

  • A model airplane usually has a small gas-powered engine to turn the propeller; a Remote-Controlled Motor controls the flaps.
  • A sailboat uses the wind for propulsion; a Remote-Controlled Motor controls the rudder.
  • An airship uses helium or hot air for lift; a Remote-Controlled Motor controls the tiny propeller.

How does a toy Remote Control work?

Radio waves are generated by a transmitter in the Remote Control and sent to a receiver in the toy. When the button on the Remote Control is pressed, the signal is generated as an electrical impulse that travels through the air.

How do I increase the range of my RC transmitter?

To increase the range, you can utilize transistors to amplify the signal from your Remote Control transmitter. You can also utilize a directional antenna to amplify your transmitter signal. However, this can be tricky and expensive. A more cost-effective solution is to replace your antenna with a more efficient one or use a larger one.

Can any transmitter work with any receiver?

Any transmitter can be utilized to pair with any receiver. However, incorrectly matched transmitter frequencies and power can permanently damage your receiver. Therefore, make sure that your transmitter and receiver operate on the same frequencies.

How do you stop Remote Control interference?

If two units operate on the same frequency, there is a good chance of crosstalk or interference. If your unit has an option that allows you to change frequencies, this should be sufficient. Most long-range remotes operate on 27 MHz or 49 MHz, so read the manual to check your unit’s frequency. Adjust the frequency until you notice that the interference is eliminated.
